Rachael is a Manager in Risk Advisory within Deloitte’s Data Privacy Team. She previously was a Senior Policy Officer with the Information Commissioner’s Office (the ICO), the UK data protection authority, where she was responsible for advising organisations on compliance with data protection law, identifying systematic practices that failed to deliver positive information rights outcomes for individuals and helping to propose solutions. During her time with the ICO, Rachael worked in partnership with the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA) to design and deliver a programme aimed at charities to help them understand the practical application of data protection law. The programme which consisted of practical workshops, webinars and blogs helped charities to increase their knowledge and confidence when it comes to complying with data protection law. As part of this programme, Rachael organised a conference to help charities prepare for the GDPR which was attended by over 300 charity leaders and trustees across Northern Ireland.
